In centrifugal pumps, the volute is a critical part of the casing design. It plays a key role in converting the high-velocity energy imparted to the fluid by the impeller into usable pressure energy. Without a properly designed volute, pumps would suffer from excessive energy losses, reduced efficiency, and unstable operation.
